Visas are an important document for any person looking to enjoy the Chinese culture by visiting the country. Visitors to China can apply for a visa at the Chinese consulates or embassies in their respective countries. Before visiting the consulates, it is important to determine the type of visa that one requires in order to get in to the country.

A person will need to apply for a tourism gateway if his intentions are to visit this country for tourism purposes. This particular gateway comes in two main forms. There is the single entry and the double entry visa. When submitting your application, a copy of your travel itinerary must be submitted to the relevant officials.

Businessmen and individuals looking to visit this country for official purposes have a special type of visa that they need apply for. The multi entry visa can either be valid for one year or half a year. To access this visa, you need to have with you an official letter of invitation from a Chinese department.

An employment visa will be your gateway to working within the country boundaries. Professionals in different fields such as teachers and scholars in different fields will need this particular visa. They will also have to bring with them the official employment letter during the application phase.

A student visa is also available for students looking to advance their studies in Chinese based schools. For student visas, you must supply both the original and photocopied letters from the ministry of education. The original letter of admission from the university is also required as well as a health certificate.

In some cases, an individual may be on transit from one country to another. Residents from certain countries may not necessarily require the transit visa. For those applying for this visa, the officer in charge may require that an individual provide further documentation or to attend an interview in person.

Journalists looking to covers news can either apply for the J1 or J2 type of visas. It will be important to consider the requirements in each category so as not to make the wrong submission. This could delay the issuance of this visa to the applicant.

Individuals working on trains and planes will need to apply for the crew members visa. This particular visa is provided based on the bilateral agreements that have been signed by the concerned parties. Crew members working on private and chartered planes may need to provide business letters from the companies that have employed them.
