There are more advantages to having friends in the office. This leaves us to the question â€" Do you want to make friends at work? If yes, then that's good. If no, then simply read the tips below.

First impressions last

First impressions last - a common saying that is so true with regards to meeting people for the first time and for them to remember you. This is the moment when you can leave a mark in the other person's mind so he or she can remember you. Now trying to make a good first impression is different from showing off. A good first impression can either be awkward, funny, and smart or anything else - just be sure it is pleasant and is good to remember you by.

Give your name or nickname for them to remember you

Upon introduction with staff members in your workplace, be sure to state your name clearly or give your nickname if possible. Not only is giving your name a good gesture of sincerity and friendliness but can also help other people remember you. Should have a long first and last name, you can just opt for a nickname. Whenever creating a nickname for work, you just have to make sure it is easy to remember and really represents who you are.

Eat lunch with others

Next tip is to NOT decline an invitation for lunch out or when someone invites you to eat. A common time to socialize and make friends at work is during lunch or coffee breaks. When colleagues do invite you to one, be sure to say yes if you’re not too busy or occupied. This will leave a good impression to others and will let them know that you are really interested in getting to know other people and that you are approachable.

Open up to others

If you want to earn a good friend at work, you will also need to be open to them. This will cover having to talk about your personal experiences, opinions, views and even secrets. Its not necessary that you give away all the details about you, you should also have a limit of what you will open up or share to others.
