Generally, mysticism can be defined as the direct experience or intuition of God. A mystic, on the other hand, is an individual who has such direct experience. Such an individual usually have his or her life and religion centered on what he regards as personal knowledge and not simply an accepted practice or belief. Therefore, it is important to understand Christian mysticism.

Generally, as a person begins to discover their understanding of the soul through tradition and mysticism, they develop some knowledge that certain individuals have a feeling that the term Christian mystics as inappropriate. To these individuals the word mystic can be perceived to mean occult, heathenism and even some worldly spiritual attitude. Nonetheless, Christian mystic may never be referred to in this manner.

Therefore, Christian mystics are people who are concerned in knowing and understanding the spirit of the bible or the word and not just religious dogmas or the letter of word. This means such individuals usually live within encounter of the word at its core. Basically, a mystic is a lover of God who pursues the love due to the realization that life as a Christian is evolving as the soul move to its destiny, as well as in relationship with God. Therefore, to be a mystic, you have to leave behind various concepts such as spiritual materialism, pride, as well as ego and adopt humility and hope expectation.

To become a mystic is actually to start a great and a stirring adventure and one that takes your soul to the heavenly kingdom from a kingdom of darkness. Therefore, a person begin experiencing the word of God as a living word that guides the reader from being ego-centric to a more mature and a deeper sense of presence of God. Actually, that message by Jesus Christ that the heavenly kingdom is not somewhere, but rather here and available to humble people through faith, is a personal realization for all people who are willing to follow.

Writings done by the early mystics give the guide that other Christians ought to follow in their journey. Nonetheless, this journey is commonly founded on the grace advanced from God and which is then perceived by the eager Christians as a sign of love. Such writings remain very beneficial when viewed in terms of mystical knowledge.

To begin this journey, it is important to note that a mystic is an individual who totally accepts the lordship of Christ Jesus via humility. Such a person also finds biblical teachings, the life and the resurrection of Christ as the only means to grow their friendship with God.

Nonetheless, it can be misleading to make an assumption that simple is the way to Jesus Christ. For Christians to hold fast to such mystic tradition, they will strongly face abuses, persecutions as well as misunderstanding that culminates into a spiritual warfare. This is owed to the fact that this journey just like any other has myriads of challenges.

Nevertheless, Christian mystics are transformed and transforming where the transformation is usually a continuous process, and the unfolding of the soul. However, this transformation is not achieved by just a single step, but a person continues to seek the kingdom of heaven.
