Determining A Good Suspense Thriller Novel

By Pamela Young

Reading novels is a common practice with many people. There are a lot of genres that one can choose from. All the same, preferring a suspense thriller genre is equally important owing to its heightened suspense feeling which most reader loves. Even so, one should be very keen on his or her selection to ensure that the respective choice gives a remarkable reading experience. Below are factors to consider in a suspense thriller novel.

First, consider the complexity of the character. A suspense thriller manuscript is expected to have a complex character. A complex figure is expected to have two characters a good and a bad one. The good one is supposed to be seen throughout the plot, and the bad one should be seen during specific events. A writer can choose to hide the bad one until something influences it which can be used as a plot twist as well.

Determine whether there is a conflict in that story. A conflict is meant to heighten the reader moods. There should be a common interest that the villain in the story should be fighting for with the good guys. Giving the villain an upper hand in the fight for sometimes keeps the story interesting and with full of expectations.

Look for the twist in the story. A twist creates suspense in the respective book lover. This is meant to catch him or her into surprise by introducing a scene that they did not expect. It is recommendable for a writer to introduce a twist after every chapter to avoid exaggeration which on the other hand makes the novel appear to be boring.

Consider scenes that heighten the particular reader mood. There should be at least some scenes that depict a real-life situation that a character can face. These include situations like kidnapping, bullying, or even torture. The writer should write down in about two hundred words explaining the respective situation. The writer usually introduces his or her own experience into the story as a way to connect with both the reader and the character moods.

Take note of the moral lesson in the story. Many people take this as an irrelevant part of a story, but some would prefer it as well. In fact, most books usually bring this aspect but in a different way which gives the book lover an opportunity to figure out the story moral lesson. Some of the aspects include granting justice to a villain, denial of justice or even helping a community survive on dangerous occasions.

Select a suitable sub-genre. You have a wide range of thriller categories to choose from. One can either decide on an action, conspiracy, forensic and many more. It is important if you read all of them to determine which fascinates you most.

Acknowledge whether the novel is good by reading out its review. Manuscript reviews talk much about the suitability of a book. This can be read out in popular blogs related to this, sale reviews and from the book acknowledgment. A book with a five star rating has high chances of giving you a remarkable experience.
