Record Of Logging Job

Logging is a good job which started in the Americas in the 1600s. At the time of 1607 settlers came in Jamestown and at that time lumber was very necessary for the North America economy. Beginning with the Industrial upheaval, the demand of lumber enhanced rapidly though ship building initiates its necessity . People made paper from wood pulp and this process established in the mid 1800s.

Americans looked for new land and natural resources and for this purpose they move to the west all over the 19th century. The farmhouse act of 1862 lead to settlersofo the western region to find out a huge land for them. Before using the land it was essential to clean the land because, those lands were deeply forested.

At early time the loggers cut only the trees that grew near the water and when the number of trees reduced at that place they usually went for another place like this. It was easy to transport the logs through water. When they started working in more local area they need something new transportation method. In this developed method the oxen and horses were used to pull logs. It was more convenient for the log drivers to drive logs to their desired places when the log workers used to work near a stream. Lumber made special railway was another method of transport. By any means the log drivers brought the logs to the main water ways and from there the logs sent to different places like mills, factory or abroad countries.

In past, only males engaged themselves in logging job and at the time of working they used special vocabulary. The persons who used to chop the trees were known as faller. After then the men who cut the trees in manageable size indicated as Bucker and whistle punk was a word that used to indicate those people who transported the logs to loading place. The equipments of logging job were only the axes, hand saws and animals prior to the invention of engine.

The loggers preferred to live at nearby site of their working area during 19th and 20th century. At that time the loggers lived in a nasty condition and were bound to work for a long duration of life. They affected by different diseases and parasites and used to wear the same cloth for many days. They believed that, a true brave man can face all the adverse conditions.
