Basics Of Cable Drum Frames

By Belinda Norbert

Cable drums need well-built frames for proper support. Custom-made structures are meant to keep these cylinders in place during transport or storage. Galvanized scaffolds are designed for additional steadiness. Make sure to store the drums and cables correctly to prevent accidents and damages.

This spherical container utilizes load distribution frames. The structures are required for support. Frames are generally fabricated to be equivalent with cable drum's weight. These containers should be raised either with a forklift or pulley. Construct a temporary ramp if both of these are not available. Roll the drum over the access ramp using a resilient rope. You can put some sand beneath the platform to control the cable container. Look for a smooth and dry surface like concrete for storage. This prevents the possible sinking of cable drum and frame due to its intense weight.

Try to find cable drum frames that can provide steady support for these heavy cylinders. Check the drums carefully prior to moving these spools in to storage areas. Watch out for nails or pointed objects that may have moved from the interiors of the flange. Remove these obstacles before you roll the drum. There are drums that can be stores outdoors and those that should be kept inside warehouses. You can also preserve the cables with materials like hard-wearing cardboard or wooden frames that provide sufficient insulation against the heat.

This is a well-known procedure in the industry. Frames will ensure that the containers remain erect so it will not roll down. Furthermore, drums must be positioned on level ground to avoid unnecessary movement. Another thing to remember is that you should not put the drums on wet terrain to prevent corrosion. At least, the frame can keep it above water. These bins must be fastened securely to the frames so these will not roll down unintentionally.

Consider using reinforced braces for all types of drums to guarantee safe handling. These containers must be hoisted and arranged using forklifts. Never lift up the drums with axles or cranes. The drum can be moved with the use of a strong movable lever if you do not own lifting equipment. Use heavy-duty ropes to so that drums will be fastened properly. Stoppers can also be utilized to prevent the container from spinning from the ramp.

Keep in mind that the frame is important to secure the big and heavy reel. See to it that you purchase cable drum frames only from well-known vendors selling quality products that last longer. Besides, you can save time and funds in the long-term.
